On this Worker’s Day, I’d like to share with you my recent experience speaking to a group of Chevening scholars that we welcomed home. I focused on the significance of having a clear vision for their future. As I stood before them, I could sense their excitement mixed with some anxiety for their future.
We talked about how a clear vision would enable them have and maintain a strong focus, resilience, emotional intelligence, and social dexterity required to navigate the minefields of life and work toward their goals. It was touching to see the determination in their eyes and reassuring to hear them begin to ask themselves the right questions about their upcoming journey.
I had individual and group discussions that highlighted their potential as leaders, influencers, and decision-makers, which shaped the decision to grant them the Chevening scholarship. A clear vision would provide the focus for each scholar to drive positive change and relationships in their communities.
The excitement in the room was palpable. I was moved by their enthusiasm and desire to change the world. They reinforced my hope for the future of Nigeria.
I send my best wishes to each and every one of you on this Workers’ Day with the hope that you will all pursue your dreams and have a positive impact on the communities in which you live. Keep a clear vision for your future in mind and allow it to guide you to success.
Happy Workers’ Day!
